Central Mountain Air has a two-tiered approach in place for pilot hiring depending on the applicants qualifications.

Tier 1

  • Commercial Licence
  • Valid Multi Engine Instrument Rating
  • 1,000 hours total time
  • IATRA Exam Completed and Passed

Applicants that fall with-in the first tier may be invited for a pilot interview which could lead to an invitation to attend an initial ground school.

Tier 2

  • Commercial Licence
  • Valid Multi Engine Instrument Rating
  • IATRA Exam Completed and Passed

The second Tier aims to help low time pilots breaking into the industry by offering ground positions to the pilots that have had successful pilot interviews and defined a process for moving on to a pilot position.

The airline operates scheduled and charter services to more than 18 destinations within British Columbia and Alberta. The airline employs approximately 300 people throughout bases in Smithers, Vancouver and Calgary.

CMA operates its main base at Smithers Airport, with hubs at Calgary International Airport, Vancouver International Airport and Prince George Airport.
