Hawaiian Airlines, Inc. is the largest airline based in the State of Hawaii and is commonly referred to by the acronym "HAL". The airline offers daily service to Hawaii from more cities than any other airline. HAL services 20 domestic and international destinations in the Pacific region, transporting about 8 million passengers a year.
Hawaiian Airlines operates its main hub at Honolulu International Airport. It and a secondary hub at Kahului Airport on the island of Maui.
In February 2013, Hawaiian Airlines announced plans to launch a new turboprop inter-island business called Ohana by Hawaiian. The service is to be operated by Empire Airlines using a fleet of ATR 42 aircraft and was meant to launch in Summer 2013 but has been delayed by the FAA.
