Job Description

Tiger Airways Australia has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Engineering to join the Engineering Team at our Melbourne Airport office.

The purpose of this position is to effectively manage the Tiger Airways Australia maintenance and engineering team, whilst providing strategies for the development of systems, personnel and support services.

Reporting to the CEO, responsibilities include:
- Negotiate, develop and review service contracts to ensure provision of quality, cost effect engineering and maintenance support.
- Reviewing strategic requirements for engineering for fleet expansion and services.
- Monitor engineering performance through service contract KPI´s and dispatch reliability reports.
- Compile engineering department reports for board meetings and as required by the CEO.
- Strategic development of maintenance policies and schedules to best meet the needs of Tiger operations.
- Review and monitor maintenance check plans, engine shop visits and aircraft delivery/return to optimize yield and maximise availability.
- Co-ordinate engineering activities between Tiger Australia and the Tiger Airways Group.
- Selection of aircraft specifications and equipment.
- Manage delivery and return of aircraft and engines.
- Liaise with the suppliers, lessors and OEM´s to ensure conditions are complied with and specifications are met.
- Compile engineering departmental budgets and monitor performance.
- Analyse non mandatory changes to the aircraft and provide justification for proposed implementation.
- Auditing of suppliers and Tiger internal audits in conjunction with the CEO.
- Other such duties as requested by the CEO.

The successful candidate must be flexible, have the ability to communicate with all levels of management and internal/external stakeholders, a team player and work in a fast paced environment.

Qualifications

Engineering Degree
Minimum 5 to 10 years experience in airline management
