Columbus State Community College offers training to prepare one for a career in aircraft maintenance. Our Aviation Maintenance Facility is located at Bolton Field Airport (KTZR), southwest of Columbus. The 10,000 square field hangar houses the college´s fleet of single and multi-engine, reciprocating and turbine powered aircraft. Well-equipped classrooms and laboratories provide students with an excellent hands-on learning environment.

Columbus State offers certificates in AIrframe, Powerplant, as well as an Associate of Applied Science. Students are permitted to take the FAA General Knowledge exam after completion of the General Subject Area courses.

Aviation Maintenance Technician training has been, for many years, a door to opportunity for aircraft mechanic jobs, and related fields. Columbus State provides training for certification as an Airframe and Powerplant Maintenance Technician.

An Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certificate issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 65 (14CFR65), is required for employment as an Aviation Maintenance Technician
