Dutch Flight Academy
For ten years future commercial pilots are trained at the Dutch Flight Academy (DFA). Our Academy is an approved Flight Training Organisation that offers a high quality integrated ATP-course.
The Academy is unique in several ways; it offers both theory and flight training in the same week. This provides the student with the advantage to better understand the theory as it is directly used in practical lessons.
All flight training is conducted from Groningen Airport Eelde and Leer (Germany). From here flights are made throughout Europe (Germany, Belgium, France, Denmark, Norway etc.). Because the practical part of the training takes place within Europe, the student becomes familiar with the European airspace and its weather conditions.
Compared to other flight schools the DFA offers the most multi engine training hours (over 60 hours actual flight training).
During the training, a lot of attention is paid to the attitude of the student, with focus on shaping and safety. Sufficient time for these aspects can be guaranteed due to the small classes at the Academy.
The DFA is well known by it“s modern teaching materials. Good example is the Boeing 737-800 NG simulator, a state of the art simulator that has been purchased in 2009. The simulator is used for the MCC-course, the final stage of the ATP training programme and can be used for further training such as, Jet Orientation Course, refresher course and grading.
The DFA uses a fleet of Diamond DA42 Twin Stars for the IFR training, including an advanced simulator of the same type of aircraft. Just like aircraft used by major airlines, the DA42 is equipped with a glass cockpit and fully computerised systems. At the end of the IFR training the student has more than 100 hours of multi engine glass cockpit experience.
We are proud to mention that our former students are (a.o) employed at:
- Air Berlin
- Amsterdam Airlines
- Austrian Arrow
- Transavia.com
- Ryanair
- Tui
- Lufthansa (Cityline)
- Cityjet (former VLM)
- Star XL
- Wizz Air
