Congratulations! You have started on an adventure in
aviation. For some reason you have chosen to step away from every day life
towards the sky. We hope the journey is as exciting, rewarding and fulfilling
for you as it has been for us.
Based in Northern
New Jersey, NJ Ultralights (wonder where we got our name from!) is
based at Trinca Airport
in Green township. This is only 5 minutes from exit 19 on Route 80 and revolves
around an amazing 2,400 ft grass strip in a glorious rural environment. With
easy access and really friendly instructors your journey toward your pilot
qualification will be everything you could possibly dream and then some.
At
N.J.U. we emphasize safety first second and last, you will become confident
pilot, knowledgeable in all skills required in flying and sharing the air with
others. You will work toward your Sports Pilot qualification and if you want
can continue toward your instructor rating.
NJ Ultralights provides a both a concentrated 7-10 day or weekend training program that will
get most students solo qualified within
that period as well as individually scheduled sessions. However you should remember the time to solo
varies as every student is different and
weather also plays a significant role in determining whether the allotted 7-10
day period will be sufficient. It
usually is, if the student is motivated enough to take advantage of every flying
opportunity (student pilots need to fly within a couple of hours of sunrise and
sunset to take advantage of the calmest flying conditions). Early mornings are
essential but so is breakfast after the training!
Now that Sport Pilot is a
reality, NJ Ultralights will start training new pilots to the Sport Pilot
standards -- 15 hours dual and 5 hours supervised solo. GA pilots will be trained
to solo proficiency (there are no minimum hourly requirements for GA pilots).
We will also direct and help you in self-paced ground school studies to meet
FAA written / practical test requirements. Most instructors and schools can only provide part-time instruction
because they have other jobs they maintain. Here at NJ Ultralights we have full time Instructors that are committed
to your success as a career.
For
customers purchasing an aircraft with us who can take advantage of our 7-10 day
program we can custom tailor a program to meet most peoples needs, such as the
phased approach. In the phased approach
we strive to complete a single flight training phase in 1-2
or 3 days. Our syllabus is designed
after that used successfully by general aviation for years and is currently in
line with FAA requirement. It fully
integrates ground and flight instruction, getting you into the air and gaining
those valuable wings.
