Elizabeth City State University is a constituent member institution of the University of North Carolina system. Elizabeth City State University is the only institution in the state of North Carolina that offers a four-year degree program in aviation education. Elizabeth City State University offers the Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Science.

All Aviation Science complete a set of core aviation courses and theymust choose one of seven minor programs on which to concentrate theirstudies. Those minor programs include Aviation Management, Computer Science, Electronics, Avionics, Public Administration, Space Science, and Flight Education. By spring 2011, we expect to offer a minor program in Air Traffic Control.

Elizabeth City State University acquireda new flight simulator in early 2009 and new state-of-the-artair traffic control simulation equipment has been acquired for the Air Traffic Control program. Additionally,the construction of a new Aviation Center at the Elizabeth City Regional Airport is being planned. The new aviation facility will house classrooms, offices, conference and meeting rooms, laboratories, simulator rooms, briefing rooms, and research facilities, and it will house our fleet of airplanes.
