About

Flight Training Adelaide’s (FTA) training ethos is to develop future Airline and Helicopter Captains rather than simply training cadets to obtain a license. To achieve this, FTA has made, and continues to make, considerable investment to ensure appropriate aircraft/simulator assets are available and the best staff are in place to deliver the training.

Whether its fixed wing or rotary wing, FTA caters for the sponsored cadets and self funded students.

A full range of services are available at FTA including selection, English Language Training, airborne flight grading, ab initio training to CPL, multi-engine CIR, frozen ATPL, multi-crew procedures and flying instructor training.

FTA also offers specialised training courses such as Jet Transition Training and helicopter crewmen ground school fundamentals.

The power point presentations were clearly outsourced overseas, many of the mass briefs were outdated, the school is part owned by a cathay pacific big wig and the biggest complaint from VET-FEE students and, admitedly most instructors admitted, was the airline cadets get priority and preferential treatment over VET-FEE students. VET-FEE only allows 10-12 overfly hours for the whole CPL course for your near on $75k investment, so unless you push you wont get the extra help with flying until youve nearly reached your limit and then your charged $300+ an hour for flying to catch up. There isnt a lot of continuity in the intructors training, what one instructor says your at a good level with another will tell you that your not competent yet. Alot of the instructors are ex airforce etc and that comes through in their attitudes, if your not quite getting something and ask them to slow down a bit when they explain things your likely to hear ´do more stidy in your own time´ than get hel Jarrad

I moved states and made huge personal sacrifices to attend FTA on a VET-FEE funded course from Sep 2015 to Aug 2016. It was a very challenging yet rewarding course. I achieved my PPL, CPL and ME IR under budget and on time. Throughout the course all members of staff had my best interests at heart ensuring I achieved my potential. Without the continual support of FTA the odds were truly against me to achieve so much in such a short time. I am returning to complete an Instructor Rating in Jan 2017 and truly hope to become part of the team and help others achieve their dreams. Tom
