Bird Dog Flight Services

Welcome to Bird Dog Flight Services, Fort Worth’s premier boutique flight academy based at Hicks Airfield (T67) in Fort Worth, Texas. Founded on the belief that aviation training should be both professional and personal, we provide a superior alternative to high-volume, impersonal "flight factories."

At Bird Dog, you are never treated like a student ID number or a line item on a ledger— you are a valued crew member and a future captain. We operate under our signature Above-the-Standard (AOT) training philosophy, going well beyond basic FAA minimums to build true airmanship, sharp decision-making skills, and uncompromising situational awareness. Whether you are taking the controls for the very first time or training for a lifelong airline career, we offer a dedicated, one-on-one learning environment built around your schedule and goals.

Our Facilities & Fleet

Our training environment is designed to maximize your time in the air while keeping training efficient, safe, and cost-effective.

• Strategic Location: Operating out of Hicks Airfield (T67) in North Fort Worth, our students train in dynamic, real-world airspace with convenient access to towered and non-towered airports across North Texas without experiencing long ground delay queues.
• Meticulously Maintained Fleet: We operate a dedicated, IFR-equipped fleet of Cessna 172 Skyhawks outfitted with modern avionics. Maintained to the highest safety and regulatory standards by dedicated FAA-certified mechanics, our aircraft boast a near 100% dispatch reliability rate—meaning fewer maintenance disruptions and steady training progress.
• FAA-Approved Gleim BATD Flight Simulator: Our on-site Gleim Basic Aviation Training Device (BATD) Virtual Cockpit simulator provides an immersive training environment featuring global navigation databases and over 33,000 instrument procedures. Students can log FAA-approved hours toward private and instrument ratings, master complex emergency procedures safely, and maintain instrument currency at a fraction of the cost of aircraft rental.

Programs Offered

We offer flexible, structured pathways for both recreational flyers and career-track aviators:
