PSA is Perfectly Located for Flight Training

Torrance airport (Zamperini field) is located at the base of the Palos Verdes Peninsula in the Los Angeles basin of Southern California. Primarily a general aviation airport, Torrance airport boasts some of the most favorable conditions to make it the most advantageous airport for flight training in the Los Angeles area:

Practice Area – Only 5 minutes away from the flight training practice area, students maximize their flight training time greatly compared to most other airports.

2 Runways – There is hardly a wait for departure or landing clearances, maximizing your rental time.

General Aviation Friendly – 99% of traffic that flies in and out is general aviation (non- commercial traffic)

Views – With some of the most gorgeous views of the Los Angeles area, the scenery is a constantly changing kaleidoscope of ocean and coastal views.

Airspace – Just 15 miles south of LAX airport, it allows for a truly complex and challenging learning environment without the aggravation of numerous air traffic delays – If you can learn to fly here, you can fly anywhere!

Imagine flying to these destinations from the Los Angeles area:

Catalina Island: 15 minutes! | Big Bear: less than an hour!
San Diego: less than an hour! | Santa Barbara: less than an hour!

Words From Former Students

Just over three weeks from the time she started, Sarah was able to pass her checkride and go back home with a new Private Pilot’s license! It was great having her out with us and we hope to see her visit again for the two week IFR course. Happy flying Sarah!

“My wife knew that I had always wanted to be a pilot, and bought me an introductory flight at Pacific Skies Aviation for my birthday. That flight was awesome: My instructor worked the radios and the rudder and all I had to worry about was the yoke, which is hands-down the best part of flying. That old part of me that had always wanted to be a pilot was completely reawakened.” - Colin

“I started my flight training in another state and when I had to move to Los Angeles, I was certain that I’d have to start again from square one. Pacific Skies made the transition easy and has helped me come a long way towards achieving all of my goals.”
- Michael H.
