2025: Flight school provided a packet with all fees and rates, then later the owner slipped in charges for things not in the original pricing structure packet, like a fee for "weather cancellations" to student pilots. (Note: The student pilot and instructor pilot both agreed it was too dangerous to fly. But the flight school's owner charged his new, made up fee, anyway.) If the plane can't take off due to weather that's not the pilots fault, and if you plan to charge for that, first tell customers, don't sneak it in later. Charging student pilots for "weather cancellation" outside their control creates a dangerous incentive to push young pilots to fly when they shouldn't. A good flight school should prioritize aviation safety. This one needs to do better. The owner aggressively chewed out the student pilot, despite the instructor agreeing with student's safety decision. It's lucky that the student pilot in this case was able to use good "go / no-go" judgment despite the owner's aggressive actions. It might have even saved the student pilot's life. Thank God the flight school owner didn't turn another flight student into a safety statistic. kie
