School Overview

Founded in 1970, the Lake Area Tech Aviation Maintenance Department has received the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Certificate of Excellence Diamond Award for five consecutive years (the Diamond Award is the highest award granted by the FAA for aviation maintenance employees and employers who participate aggressively in available maintenance training. Also, in Fall of 2013 our head instructor was recognized as the South Dakota Technician of the Year by the FAA.

Beside the core Part 147 curriculum, Lake Area Tech offers flight instruction - our hangars hold no less than four regularly flying aircraft (including a motor glider and a tailwheel model)!
The classrooms are all at the hangar, directly on Watertown´s airport ramp, and hands-on maintenance studies are the rule, not just a rare privilege.

Be a part of the exciting field of aviation! Students of our FAA-certified program can look forward to: excellent pay, unique travel privileges, attractive fringe benefits, and the ability to work anywhere in the world.
